Rabat Medina
Medinas and souks, I've seen a seen a few. Not so many that they've lost their allure, but enough that their charms don't always overwhelm their aggravations.
My initial encounter with the Rabat medina was an unfair first impression - I was very tired, I was carrying my full backpack just off the train, and I was walking through the busiest alley at a busy time of day. The slow-walkers ahead of me browsed stalls of household goods and trinkets, and they were In. My. Way.
The next morning and a few times since, I've had blissful wanders through the medina here. The blue-and-white walls lend it an airier, seaside feeling compared to the crowded red and browns of Marrakech. My favorite alleys were empty, save for the occasional pedestrian or cat, where every arched door was a work of art.
